Energy Drinks are simply termed as any drink that gives extra energy to the body or help to replenish lost energy. A review by World Health Organisation (WHO) stated some negative effects of too much intake of energy drinks.
I would like to share a few with you to help us know our stand.
1. Too much intake can cause severe Headaches and Migraines
Energy drinks contain some amounts of caffeine which if consumed in excess can be harmful to the body. Changing the amount of caffeine taken into the body at different times can lead to headaches. Avoid too much intake of this drink to save your head.
2. Development of Diabetes (Type Two)
The sugar content of most energy drinks on the market are very high and this can be harmful to the pancreas. This sugar can destroy the Insulin producing cell of the pancreas leading to Type 2 diabetes.
3. Energy drink intake can lead to High Blood Pressure
Taking a lot of this caffeinated drink can elevate a persons blood pressure above normal. This can expose the person to different kinds of health risk including cardiac arrest, stroke, dizziness etc.
4. It leads to Increase in Anxiety
When we take these caffeinated drinks such as the energy drinks, it makes the immune system take off with a boost which sometimes brings about a feeling of worry, nervousness etc.
5. Addiction to the use of other drugs and substances
when one gets use to the consumption energy drinks and gets to a point when they can't live without, it leads to consumption of other drugs and substance for self satisfaction. This act in the end places a financial burden on the victim.
Kindly take note of the above and take very good care of yourself. There is a saying that goes " A healthy mind lives in a healthy body". Live a healthy life free from artificial stuff and you will live longer.
