Fitball at job
If you have read my post introduce myself, you know that I am an executive secretary and I work in front of a PC all day, I have regular neck pain (I have osteoarthritis) and my upper back. In addition, I make an hour and a half of car back and forth a day to go to work.
Since a few months I work on a fitball (gymnastic ball) bought at Décathlon.
I have more back pain and this mode of sitting is quite fun.
My physiotherapist confirmed to me that spending the whole day sitting on an office chair, with a posture not always adapted, was relatively bad.
That's how my change of "office chair" went.
I bought at Decathlon (or at another sports equipment store if you do not have this store near you) a fitball

There are several models, choose the one that fits your size.
It must be removed from its box and inflate with a simple bike pump (it's good to always have one in one of its drawers because it must be inflated time, about once a month maximum). It should also be inflated and deflated somewhat until the correct height is found in relation to the computer screen and the desk. It takes a few days of adaptation.
The ball must then be positioned with the closure cap in contact with the ground.
At first, you have to try several distances from the office to find the ideal position. It is also preferable to add a footrest that allows to wedge the ball and have his legs perfectly right angle.
It's a little confusing at first when you have to get up and sit down but personally I got used to it.
At first I had kept my office chair just in case, but eventually it never served me again. Once, I wanted to get back on it and I quickly felt the difference, on the ball we are mobile (I go back and forth from front to back or from left to right and sometimes I do small jumps, without taking off the buttocks, relying on the elasticity of the balloon, suddenly my body is still moving) and as on a cushion while when you get back on a chair you feel more gravity and we are frozen (ants in the legs, etc.). Just avoid bouncing when your boss comes to talk to you; o)
Thanks to this ball and despite myself, I muscle my back and I move my legs regularly, sometimes even when I reread a document I stretch on the ball (we can adopt different positions (a little ridiculous I confess but so much comfortable) according to the work done: keyboard, reading, ...).
I do not hide that I had the right to remarks from my colleagues but they find it rather comical overall, I did not have any negative remarks, basically it makes everyone laugh but the ridiculous do not kill and I always had a little rebel side; o)
The ball does not slip so there is no risk of falling, o) unless we lean too much back obviously ;o)
Advice for beginners
Start with 2 hours of fitness a day and gradually increase the duration and you will see that after a while you say goodbye to your traditional office chair.
