After a comment-area discussion with regarding the use of Ghost Pipe tincture to manage chronic pain, she suggested it might be worthwhile to make a broader post asking for input from Steemians who deal with pain issues without traditional pain drugs.
My mother-in-law has Trigeminal Neuralgia and has steadfastly refused to take pain meds for it. It flares and recedes without much warning (though my impression is it's tied to stress). She's not very familiar with alternative medicine but as I watch a time approaching where I will be caring for her, I'd like to learn whatever I can about helping her to deal with the pain of a disease sometimes referred to as "the Suicide Disease" because of how frantic it can make it's sufferers.
She has a few diet habits that may impede the efforts of any tinctures or other homeopathics, including drinking coffee and diet Mug root beer instead of water. Anything I introduce would have to be pretty solid because she would go online and get very uncertain about the conflicting information she'd find there regarding alternative medicine.
She has had a period of about two years where the TN hasn't bothered her much at all, but when it does flare up she has difficulty talking, eating or sleeping. If anyone has any experience with dealing with this disease barring surgery or pain meds, we'd be very grateful to hear your comments!
