Salt is a necessary nutrient for the body.. you cannot produce it on your own.. i would note recommend going low on salt at all unless you have a genuine problem with electrolyte regulation..
i do a low carb diet and you will excrete salt, potassium, and magnesium regularly. I would die in a day or two if i didn't replace these critical electrolytes..
in fact, runners die from heart attacks due to low salt and potassium.. because the muscles need electrolytes to function and the heart is just a huge muscle..
