A couple years ago I received a Christmas gift from my Grandma and it was the Fitbit. I started wearing it everyday and quickly learned the amount of steps I was getting was dreadful.
The daily goal is 10,000 steps, and being the competitive person I am, I felt that I had to get 10,000 steps now that I could see how many steps I am taking. I also started entering step competitions with my friends to keep me accountable.
I don't always win these competitions but it just adds a little fun to counting steps. It has encouraged me to find new fun ways to get more activity.
Now I walk to the grocery store or bike instead of driving. I have found it is much less stressful than trying to drive in heavy traffic and I feel much more accomplished afterwards (p.s. Thank you for the hat)
Fitbit's workout feature allows you to track a variety of exercises too. My favorite one is using the biking feature and it tracks my distance, time, speed, and heart rate as I ride.
Other than just steps and activity, Fitbit gives you reminders to move and tracks your sleep, heart rate, water intake and weight loss.
I have lost 20 pounds since adding the Fitbit and it has helped me live a more active lifestyle. I think fitness trackers are great (not only the Fitbit) and can help everyone achieve their fitness goals, big or small.
