Driving is an everyday activity. We all know the importance and necessity of driving nowadays. This driving technology is the blessing for us since we can travel from one place to another within a few minutes or hours depending on the distance and our driving speed.
But for some people, it is like risking their lives. Sure, accidents are bound to happen someday with someone but that doesn't mean that it's going to happen with you too because it completely depends on some factors like how careful you are while driving and do you abide the traffic rules at all or not. But still, there are people who fear to drive.

I believe that life becomes easier when you conquer your fear. You should find out the main reasons for your fear and try to look at it statistically and from wise perspectives. "Accidents are bound to happen therefore we should not drive cars", is it the right mindset? No, the right mindset is: "Accidents are bound to happen but only with those who drive carelessly, so we should drive carefully and abide all the traffic rules to avoid accidents".
Since this is the episode of how-to series, we'll be discussing the ways to conquer and overcome the fear of driving. You might be going through driving phobia and you must do something about it, but what should be done? That's our topic of this post for today.
# 1 - Know Your Fear & Find What Are The Roots Of That Fear!
The best way to overcome the fear is to know accurately what exactly makes you fear from driving. Is it your most recent car accident? or maybe you've watched a clip on youtube where some serious accidents were shown to you.
Well, we are humans and we all go through problems. Sometimes people start to think too much about their problems which decrease their self-confidence and therefore, not only their driving skills get negatively affected but they also go through other troubles in life.
You must learn to fight the problems. This is life and problems are part of this life. Worrying too much about your problems will only lead you towards frustration, losing self-confidence and some other serious troubles like health issues. Maybe your daughter is ill and not recovering even after taking the proper medicines and you're worrying too much about her? Yes, she is your lovely daughter and you should care for her but that doesn't mean that you lose your senses.
When you'd contemplate and try to find what are the roots of your fear of driving then you'll be able to think on solutions and conquer that fear. This is how you can overcome your fear. Think on good aspects and keep moving on with life.
# 2 - Practice Relaxation Techniques Within Your Car:
You know what? I used to fear a lot during my learning sessions that I'd make an accident and would cause injuries to other but thankfully, my friends were good enough to remind me the techniques of relaxation like taking a long breath and inhaling it slowly. You may have heard this technique a ton of times from people but most of them forget mentioning one thing and that's "Focus".
When you take a long breath, you should be focused on your breath and shouldn't be thinking about anything else to make sure that you feel the effect of this action within yourself. When you take a long breath, you should feel that fresh air is going to your lungs and then you should inhale it slowly in maybe like 3-4 seconds. In short, whenever you are facing some kind of fear, then use this long breath technique and I'm sure you'll feel the difference.
# 3 - Affirm Yourself Positively But Honestly:
This is such a great technique which could solve any kind of fear or phobia, be it the fear of driving or fear of anything else. Usually, your mind indicates the reason why you should fear and just like I've stated in the first part above, you'll be able to know the roots of your fear. If you were confused that what should be done after determining the roots of fear, then consider the positive affirmations before/while driving.
Like you might be thinking that "Accidents happen every day, and who knows if it's my time or not" then you should say, "No, I am driving very carefully. Accidents only happen with those who drive carelessly". You might be thinking: "What if I'd be late if I drive slow?" then you should say, "No, I will drive slowly and will reach to my destination because I don't want to take any risk"
Only use those affirmations which you are practicing in reality too. Your honesty really matters. If you are driving fast and saying to yourself that, "No, I am driving slow and nothing is going o happen to me because I am within the speed limit" then I'd call it dishonesty.
