Today I decided to swim for the first time in a while, and just after a couple of minutes in the pool, I started to think… Why do I not swim every day? Regularly swimming is not only great for cardiovascular fitness, it provides the body with non-straining exercise that builds and strengthens muscle. Whenever I swim I also feel that my metabolism ignites, I can almost feel myself burning calories with each lap.
Like I mentioned, swimming is a fantastic cardio exercise which is known to increase lung capacity, this kind of training can be very beneficial for other sports/physical activities as well. One of the first things I do when I swim laps, is swim as far as I can underwater, I have found that it is a great way for me to increase my endurance and focus.
Anyways, the point of this story is that returned to an exercise I had not done in a while, and found fantastic benefits that I had not seen before. In one of my old posts, I posted about creating the perfect workout routine, I believe that it is important to change the movements and exercises you do regularly. Exposing the body to change on a daily basis requires your body to adapt to the new movement and builds muscle in different areas of the body.
Providing your body with a full body workout will also facilitate the other workouts/activities that you engage in, even just walking around.
