Most of my life happens on a screen:
I look at my computer screen all day every day.
I look at my smartphone screen only about 1000 times a day.
I look at my TV screen, only every single evening.
And sometimes I look at all the three screens at once.
And one day, totally unexpectedly for me, I reached a point where I could no longer look at a screen, not even for one minute…
I had piles of projects to complete, clients waiting for my response, and yet, there I was…
…sitting at my desk, unable to switch on the screen, feeling totally paralyzed.
The only thing I felt I could do, was to finally mend a broken earing, which I’d been meaning to do for about a few years now…
And so the journey began:
the broken earring led me to the world of jewellery making and a few jewelry pieces (made by me) I am very fond of,
which in turn led me back to the world of crochet and knitting, which I last visited in my teens.
After about a week of this bizarre and yet so liberating ‘no-screen switched on’ existence, I came out of my cave:
energized, buzzing with new ideas and ready to face the screen again ;-)
Only now I am doing it differently:
I don’t care how busy it gets on ‘the screen’, I treat my off-screen hobbies like something that’s precious and vital to my daily existence.
Crafting regularly, for me, is like drinking water every day and eating a healthy diet – it keeps my mind energized, my soul happy and my heart excited.
If you are like me and spend most of your life on a screen, I challenge you, take a break, create something with your hands, or simply mend something.
You’ll be surprised at the levels of your contentment and satisfaction, it feels even better than claiming your Steemit rewards seven days later :-)
Get a hobby, enjoy your life!
