Today’s the day I thought. I’m going to attempt to drink a half gallon of water and see how my body responds.
Previously, I have attempted to drink mounds of water. It only led me to thinking that these “drink mountains of water” people are crazy. I mean it only leads to more bathroom trips.
I never notice anything else. Everything seems normal - aside from the bathroom marathons.
I’m sorry, but I dont want to spend my life in the bathroom.
Maybe some people do…..
I mean you can take a break from the children. (sometimes)
You can scroll on social media…if you want.
But not me. I much prefer the kitchen.
However, lately I haven’t been getting the rest that I am use to getting. I am becoming more mindful of my body and how it's reacting on a day to day basis. And well, I’m really interested in reaching my fitness goals this year soooo….
I decided to see what 24 hours of intentional hydration will get me?
- Will I get the rest I need?
- Will I see any benefits towards my fitness goals?
How I drank 64 oz water in 12 hours…
I want to see how drinking water changes things over time, but mainly the next 24 to 48 hours. So here goes…..
I woke up to head for the kitchen and get my first 16 ounces of water from the water box. Then sat down at my computer to start writing my morning pages. So far so good.
After my morning pages, I got another 8 ounces to drink before I started nibbling on toast and grapes….my tasks today includes making bread as a side dish for dinner and the usual: workout, homeschool activities, cleaning, etc.
After “breakfast” I drank some more water and started with my day. During the day I drank 16 ounces around 2 pm. Another 8 ounces around 5:30 before dinner and then 8 ounces after dinner.
Placing me right at 64 ounces 2 hours before bed time. Which is around 11pm for me. Now for the
Feedback
Lots of bathroom breaks….I mean seriously I wasn't all that surprised. But I will say that breaking up the water intake throughout the day makes the bathroom breaks less noticeable.
I was very tired by the end of the day. I usually stay up to watch bedtime stories with my daughter but my body was not having it.
When I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and came back to bed my body practically went back to sleep quickly. Which is saying something in my book because before I struggled to go back to sleep. After 30 minutes of lying awake, I would be on my phone.
I woke up in the morning. My hands are soft and smoothed compared to the flaky ones I had days earlier…which reminds me I am starting to use cold water more often….(which is a…..process let’s just say.)
I don’t feel tired. And…..wait let me go do my exercises, be right back.
Well it could be improved…at least the stretches, but that will come with time.
Anyways, I am very happy with my rest though.
Next is to see how this drinking water effects my cycle over time…..
My Takeaways
I will probably try to minimize my water intake so that I am not going to the bathroom often. Yet enough to keep me hydrated.
I need to find a middle ground.
Also, plain water gets boring fast so I will definitely add some juice or other drinks like tea to my hydration plan.
What about You?
Do you get enough water in your body?
What has helped you stay hydrated?
