Hello gamers and fellow steemians yesterday I made a post about arena runs in Hearthstone, today I decided to extend the post and write arena class tiers and why they are better. Each class has its strengths and weaknesses in arena this power comes from mostly from the hero power and class commons that synergize. Despite the fact that overall some classes perform better than others it is possible to draft good decks with low tier heroes and reach 12 wins. So lets start by talking about class tiers.(Just a small note, tier list constantly changes as the meta changes, this list is viable for current meta)
Tier 1 (Perfect): Rogue, Mage
Tier 2 (Excellent): Paladin, Hunter
Tier 3 (Great): Druid, Priest, Shaman, Warlock
Tier 4 (Good): Warrior
Mage:
Mage has the best hero power suited for arena due to its versatility, unlike druid for dealing damage to minions you don't have to take face damage and it allows you to pass taunts.
Cards like Mana Wyrm, Sorcerer's Apprentice and Frostbolt are fast paced and helps you take control of the game early. Where as for slow paced games cards like Fireball, Polymorph and Flamestrike are great value and definately key cards to take control in late game.
Rogue:
Rogues in arena usually choose a tempo based aggresive style due the number of low cost commons and early clears. It is often advised to draft healing cards due to the nature of rogues hero power which gets you face damage for clears. Cards like backstab and deadly poison allow you to build up tempo and clear. Where as undercity huckster is a good body and a value generator. Disadvantage of rogue is if it didn't perform good in early game rogue can't keep control at late game.
Paladin:
Another great hero power for arena due to its power to fill the board even when you have no minions to play and there are always buffs like spikerigged steed. Cards like vinecleaver, rallying blade, truesilver champion, consecration helps you maintain board control. Aldor peacekeeper makes it easy to deal with large minions and also paladin has the best card in Arena which is Tirion Fordring. Overall with paladin you can expect to have a control based matchup usually lasting longer compared to other classes.
Hunter:
Hunters should choose more agressive decks due to its hero power but hunters can also have really strong control decks. Cards like flanking strike, multi shot, explosive shot makes it easy to control the board and minions like Svannah Hymane are bound to sit on board due to its deathrattle effect
Druid:
Druids hero power can be really usefull as well as being deadly for himself because it has to take face damage for board clears. Whereas druid has best minions for arena, lots of commons such as, Druid of the Claw, Ironbark Protector, Tortollian Forager and good clears like Swipe, Wrath, Starfire. The only weakness is druids ability to deal with hoardes and large bodies.
Priest:
Hero powers value comes from being able to heal minions. Cards like Northshire Cleric and Lightspawn synergizes with hero power. Priest has really nice board clears like Holy Nova, Dragonfire Potion and Psychic Scream. Shadow Word Pain is good early clear whereas Shadow Word Death is a great big minion killer.
Shaman:
In arena Shamans hero power is pretty much useless but Shaman has really strong cards like Fire Elemental, Hex, Stormforged Axe, Forked Lightning, and Lightning Bolt but due to overload the player has to do some planning. Cards like Earth Elemental also provide good body for the board. When drafting for shaman the player should look to create a midranged deck.
Warlock:
Warlocks has the best hero power in the game because of being able to draw whenever it is needed. The strongest way to draft a warlock deck in arena is to make an aggressive deck with low cost minions. This method is the oldest trick in the book and still viable to this day.
Warrior:
Warrior has the worst hero power in arena unless synergised with cards such as Shield Slam and Reckless Fury. Since both of the cards are epic the chances are looking slim. Best advantage of warrior in arena is its weapons. Fiery War Axe, Molten Blade and Arathi Weaponsmith are most valued cards for warriors but it also carries the risk of taking too much face damage. Try not to draft more than 4 weapons if you choose warrior.
