Welcome to my DTube Hebrew reading & language series.
The full study is now on line covering the Alef-Beyt here in my blog. This is a beginners program to teach letters, vowels, and reading. The vowels are marked in this bible and are designed to help avoid confusion on what a word is and how it is pronounced. The confusion is obvious in the hundreds of interpretations globally. In modern Hebrew, only children need a niqqud or vowel marking for each letter. Old manuscripts also usually have vowels marked.
G'mar Hatimah Tovah to those who partook this week.
We are reading Genesis 3:12-14
We are now in the blame game. God asked, "Have you eaten from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?" The answer was not simply 'yes' or 'no', but rather finger pointing. Then the serpent was told that he would be cursed, lower than all other beasts, left to go on his belly and eat dust.
His response to the man and the woman is more loving, helping them with the clothing problem. It is interesting to note that they had sewn fig leaves to cover themselves, but everyone thinks they had eaten an apple. Check last lesson to see that they had eaten and unspecified fruit, their eyes were opened, and there happened to be a fig tree next to them when they reached for something to wear. The answer to that burning question is hidden in plain sight.
Had we known, you would be swiping on your Fig, iPhone!
God was harsh in banishing them from the ha gan eden, then again, he cannot lie. Death was the promise for their choice and the tree of life was now off limits. Next week's preview.
Below, I have marked one instance of "he said" and one of "she said" to show the difference. Here you see that only one letter changes depending on whether the speaker is male of female. Verbs are not easy to learn, but the first step is noting the changes that all verbs have in common.
