Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Genesis 26:10-13
The king was upset last week because Isaac's wife might have been sexually assaulted due to Isaac's deception. The population was under the impression that she was not married and anyone could have "easily lain with her" as the text says.
The king chose to correct the mischaracterization, announcing that anyone who touches Isaac or his wife will be put to death. After that, Isaac begins his life in the land with great success. He had sown and harvested a hundred fold and had become very rich.

Abimelech said, "What is this you have done to us? One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us." So Abimelech warned all the people, saying, "Whoever touches this man or his wife shall surely be put to death."
And Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The YHVH blessed him, and the man became rich, and gained more and more until he became very wealthy.
The story continues next week as people react to this get rich quick scheme...
