Some old tractors an old car and a hellbender. Hellbenders are protected species here in the South East.
They are indicator species. If the hellbenders are happy so are the trout and other fishies.
If the hellbenders are dying it means something needs to be fixed before the trout and other fresh water inhabitants die.
Hellbenders are very sensitive to pollution in the water. I found out today that they can grow to 24 inches and live past 40 years.
Kind of scary looking and the name is as well. Sounds more like a new Steem Monster card than a North American fresh water creature.
