Another gloomy day, the entire city is without color, emotionless. Cars honking, their tires shrieking, curses being thrown out the bearly open windows. Constant dripping rain increases tension and stress levels. Everyone's on edge, under an umbrella, moving from cover to cover. All that because of rain. And then, there, in the middle of all this, a spark of light, is an "idiot" with a smile on his face.
"That would be me "the Gray Man". Person, seemingly, without a care in the world. Walking to my destination, eating some cheap pastry from a questionable bakery. Humming random melody to add a spring to my step.
But I have something only rare people have. The special ability of "fitting in". This ability was acquired through years of learning, expanding my knowledge and abilities. Being charismatic, quick-witted and of course, extremely handsome made me the perfect candidate to excel at meeting new groups, gaining trust, and in the end their friendships. After some time I realized not to talk to everyone in the same manner. For example, slang isn't always a good thing to use but other times it's a necessity, depending on the person or a group you encountered.
Respect plays a big role so be sure to carry yourself with dignity. It's often sad to respect your elders, but I don't always do that. My personal preference is to give respect to those who have earned it. Know human values and listen to that moral compass all of us have, but far too often overlook.
Investing time and energy in gathering intel and perfecting my techniques was never tedious or hard. Thus it's to no one surprise that I can speak multiple languages, code, cook, play an instrument, and much more.
Till next time... If you recognize me.
The Gray Man."
Everything I wrote in the paragraphs above was a metaphor for the basis for my Hive Blog account. Accumulating knowledge, learning skills and languages, perfecting already existing ones, trying to master skills I never knew I had, teaching others, and so on. The moment I heard about Hive Blog I thought it's a great place to gather and share intel with a great community looking to learn and do more.
In this post, I tried to conjure up an atmosphere and describe a person with my writing without doing the research first. Tell me how I did. Maybe next time, after I do the research it comes out better.
"The Gray Man" was an idea that came to me one day. At that moment it seemed perfect for Hive. Someone seemingly capable of doing anything and everything that he/she puts his/hers mind to and yet invisible. This was exactly my view of Hive Blog and its community. Everyone contributes and together generates an always expanding sea of knowledge. And yet invisible??? You might ask. This is because no one needs to give their true identity or show their face. Also, it's the decentralized part, which I personally really liked. What this means isn't only that there is no "big boss" or a company calling all the shots, but that we can do what we want (in certain guidelines). That's why today I was "The Gray Man".
In the spirit of learning, give me some accounts or posts where I can learn something new that you found interesting or educational. I would also be thankful if someone can point me to a place where I can learn more about Hive (Blog, Engine, etc). Thank you in advance.
Finally, you made it to the end. This is the place where I will ask you to do something for yourself. Go to the beginning of this post, try to visualize the rain, the street, the crowd of people, and tell me. Is some water really a reason to worsen your mood? Or? Are you going to be "THE GRAY MAN" with a smile on your face walking in rain? With or without an umbrella.
