No kidding! What else are Steemians to do? We look out for each other! That is what the essence of this community is (and crypto in general), isn't it? We help each other and we look out for each other. That is what makes these tiny communities so wonderful.
I'd like to share a brief experience that I had recently that helped a great friend and fellow Steemian, , to save about $75 (USD) in shipping fees. I'll get to that in just a moment, but first, allow me to share a few thoughts.
Steemit Shows How Generosity Prevails
The community here on Steemit has proven innumerable times that we have a collective power to enhance the lives of those around us, many times with very little effort. The power that our community holds is nothing short of incredible. Kindness carries much further here than any other platform that I have seen. Although Steemit has a rather tiny user-base, it has proven the potential to enhance life for humans all around the globe.
Simple Acts Go A Long Way
We can literally alter the lives of people with a simple click of a button, a single vote, or a kind word in the comments. Where else is this possible? This platform allows for anyone to earn and to share whatever they have to offer - be it a small or large. We all have the ability to offer something to this community and no matter how large or small that offering might be - it makes a difference.
We are here because we did not accept the "default" that today's social media had to offer us
This also means that we tend to be more 'out-of-the-box' thinkers as Steemians.
We do not accept 'default' and we create ways to enhance our environment, almost by nature. That said, a great friend of mine, , recently claimed his FREE 24k GOLD that he earned from MENE.com and if you are unfamiliar with Mene.com, I highly recommend you read his post!
Yes, FREE 24k GOLD - I Didn't Believe it until I saw it with my own eyes!
I know it is hard to believe that you can get free 24k gold, but I held the proof in my hands!
Jack and I were chatting and he mentioned that he finally had earned enough via his referrals to get his lovely wife, , a nice 24k charm. There was just one problem...
Because he wished to have the charm delivered to his wife in Australia, the shipping from Mene was $75!!! They ship inside the U.S. for free, but International shipping incurs a hefty fee.
So... We Improvised!
I told to simply have it delivered to me because I am within the U.S. - FREE Shipping! Then, I could simply mail it to the final destination.
But... There was 1 problem.
The original box was far larger than it needed to be and the contents could easily be condensed - which is what I did after the Post Office here gave me a quote of $48-70 to ship the box!
So... We Improvised Again!
We agreed that repackaging the charm and sending it that way would be far more efficient. It worked! Talk about efficient...
From $70 to $5.95 shipping - just like that!
My lovely wife, , went to USPS and sent it off to Australia. It's on the way to
as I write this and that is just another example of how people can help each other from anywhere on the planet. We are on 3 different continents and yet we can help one another with very little applied effort. Jack is a great Steemian and a great friend, so this was the least I could do. The little things we can do to help each other really add up, but who's keeping count?
