Hello and welcome new steemians! It's been 5 months today since I joined Steemit. I've learned a lot of things not just earning but discovering yourself of who you really are and what you can share with the community. I'm glad a friend of mine
Hive account@ediah invited me to join here and she's been helping me through my steemit journey along with my two communities who extend their help and support me all the way,
Hive account@steemitachievers and
Hive account@steemitfamilyph. I owe this to all of them and now it's time for me to help newcomers on how to start on this platform. So here are some tips on how to motivate yourself in your future journey in Steemit.
Know and learn the platform better
When I started steemit, I always depend on my friend and asking lots of questions on how to start my pace, but she patiently answered all of it. I've learned that all those questions can be found in the STEEMIT FAQ. Before you start posting your introductory post and editing your profile, read first the WELCOME and FAQ to know steemit better. Photos below is where you can find the following.
In the upper right of your profile, please click the red rectangle that I marked.

Then click the WELCOME and FAQ.

Read all the information about steemit. It's quite long but it's worth it, so be patient.

After reading all the important details, you can now fill your profile and make your first "Introduction post". To learn how to make an introduction post, you can search the tag "introduceyourself" in your feed, where you can find it in the left side of the screen. Check some steemians intro post but don't copy, just get some idea. Give your best shots in making your intro, make it a unique and catchy to get attention to your audience and you might get bigger upvotes from them. Research, read more and apply all the information that you gather.
Securing your account
A lot of newbies had a bad experienced in steemit, who are victims of a scammer. So be careful of using your password. Beware of people who send token in your wallet and giving some link, people who comment on your post with a link and encourage you to join their group. Check their reputation under 25 to -1, too much "phisher" in this platform. If you read the STEEMIT FAQ, you will see how to secure your password. Remember the important usage of the mastery key, owner key, private key and posting key. Make a duplicate of your password in a safe place. Prevention is better than never. You can contact steem chat in case your account was stolen or you forgot the password.
Interact with some steemian
Building connection with some steemians is essential in gaining friends and followers as well. Be honest with yourself in commenting their post, appreciate even small things, join their community thru chatroom or discord. In that way, people will recognize you and don't be shy to communicate or mingle with them. I've been through with that, I was so hesitant to interact with some people, but I've learned from it. Learn how to deal and reach out to them.
How to earn and deal your emotions
Just a reminder that this social media is rewarding us by making a blog. But it doesn't mean that reaching the top is easy. To earn on this platform, you need to work hard for it. Make something more interesting, exceptional, genuine and a good quality content. Who knows, you might get curated by the big whales. Speaking of earning, aside from making a blog, you can join some contest. I'm a contest seeker, cause I want to earn and learn something new. I'm not a blogger, but I used to join some writing contest despite my flaws.
Everybody earns cents of course, but don't be discouraged and complained. Be patient. Just wait for the right time to shine. We all knew how it feels writing a long content without having a big vote or just a cents. Keep steeming every day, don't mind the cents, just enjoy doing what you love, share some of your knowledge and interest. Everybody has something to offer on this platform, we all have our own level of interest. Keep calm and keep steeming. Don't be scared to try new things. Just be you, be inspired and motivate yourself.
Less expectation, less disappointment...
And lastly, if you want to stay here longer, follow the rules and don't be abusive. You might get flag if you do something stupid. Just enjoy your stay here and good luck with your new journey in Steemit! All the best!
