Honestly had this gorgeous bottle of SimplyINKD Jagua Gel sitting in my freezer since March. Put off by the horror stories of leaks and mess, I couldn't bring myself to play with it over the summer for fear of having a blobby mess on my hands whilst doing beautiful henna on bridal clients.
Armed with loads of advice from my henna community, London Henna Hang, who warned me to wear gloves, not to try and rub a mistake and to decant into a small tightly rolled cello cone for more control.
Once done, gloves off, It was a breeze. I made no mistakes and there was not a single bit of mess anywhere! It was a joy to work with.
I removed the paste after four hours to leave a very light kiss of a stain. Pale blue intensified into a rich black in less than three hours. My community says I must be warm blooded for it to have stained so quickly.
Jagua is NOT BLACK HENNA. It's an organic dye that is extracted from the Jagua fruit. It's mixed with Xantham Gum to make it a gel like consistency allowing for ease of use. It's skin safe subject to anyone having allergies to fruits such as Kiwi (so i've been told). It will stain for 8-10 days in the usual places (hands and feet) and longer on places ie chest, back.
