Hey hey!
So I'm sure you're concerned daily that I haven't been posting for freakin' ages, and wanted to let you all know what is the what (Spoiler : it's the what), and to try and confuse people with my odd turns of phrase.
Like heaps of people I've disappeared from the Steeminess of late, but alas it wasn't the crypto downturn that drove me away...
… instead it's just been boring old work.
Ever since I moved to the Americas, my job has been super easy... ask people for their decisions, be ignored, and help people with their stuff... do all that from home where I go to the gym 90 times a day, which is occasionally offset by spending a week in the Midwest. Easy.
Unfortunately, after 3 years of super vagueness and continually changing technology partners, my project finally hit the stage of We're Definitely Going Live This Time, No, Seriously, This Time it's For Real For Real, and we all had 2 months to complete years of work.
And we did it.
And now we're supporting it... and so I've been working 15-16 hour days, through the night, every night - today is the first day I've had off in weeks, and I've got 2 weeks (assuming everything goes well) of craziness before I can embrace the daylight again.
Then what?
Then, most likely, I'm going to lose my job.
The consulting company I work for lost the contract with the company I've been working on... and usually in a situation like this, a consulting company would be hassling everyone like crazy for updated resumes and trying to get you to find business, etc.
Nooope.
Absolute radio silence.
Even when I've asked about specific end dates they've just ignored me, so I have absolutely no doubt they'll be firing all the people on this project. Which is exciting, I've never been fired before... I'm curious to how they'll do it.
They've been beyond terrible, so I'll be happy to be dumped, but...
...If it does go down like that, it'll put me in a weird position visa-wise.
Technically I'll have 10 days from the end of my employment to get a new visa or get out of the country... so I might have to leave and come back under my partner's visa, which would allow me to do any job (hello crypto!) but means I couldn't derive an income until it's processed like 10 weeks later.... or the company I'm working for is very interested in offering me a contract, but there's a few non-compete things to work around... or I might be able to find something local... I have no idea how this'll play out.
Since I've been working crazy hours, I literally haven't left our place for weeks.... which is totally fine because it really is a paradise, I often feel guilty that we live in such an incredibly beautiful forest.... dappled sunlight through the pine trees never gets old. I see a ton of deer daily, which is cute, they've got all their babies with them now...
… but they're also not my favourite people at the moment. I'm not sure if it's clear in this photo, but they've eaten everything in my Ninja Fortification.
The fishing wire kept them at bay for months... and then one day it totally didn't.
They've eaten everything... we're going to have to figure something out this weekend.
But what does this mean for all the things?!?
Well.... my training for Ninja Warrior has totally bombed.
Without consistent training, I did some serious damage to the tendons in my right arm when I finally did get a sesh in.
I'm now going to have to rehab that guy, and basically start from scratch training-wise.
My injury is (apparently) 3 months of rehab, just to get to a point where it doesn't kill to open a door or wash my face, and then pre-hab, strength-building and conditioning before I can even think about hitting an obstacle in earnest.
I haven't had time for social media at all, which is a blessing, because it's all about Australian Ninja Warrior which I won't lie, still stings a little bit. Last year it was the highest rating show in Australia, this year it's made no impression on the TV-watching audience at all. There are lots of theories about that, but let's just assume it's because they cut an Aussie Ninja when he didn't want to fly back for a 20 minute fitness test.
I meant about the Steem things?
Oh, well, I've still been around, just way less.
All my dicebots @rollthedice, @rolltwodice, @gobbo and @attackdice still seem to be used all around the place, so that's exciting.
I'm still very much enjoying 's zombie game, the little group it created is pretty amazinggreat.
I loved, but currently don't have the spare brains for 's IBT game, but if you love being creative and/or silly, please do join in, if it's not too late.... it's probably too late.
I've been very lightly moderating in and
, which I'm really excited to get back into when I have any spare moments. I realise
is pretty controversial, but I honestly do think that for Steem to go mainstream, we need to cater more to consumers and not just to content-creators.
I'm very much loving and
- the only occasional exercise I've been getting is running (don't need no arm tendons for that!)
I do really want to work on a frontend that aggregates lessons on exercises, workout routines with people's daily efforts, but I need a whole lot of time to work on that guy.
I also want to somehow automate the super nerdy game I was running. Something that has a real-time front-end that posts events and activity at the end of the day.
Anyway?
Anyway, I hope you're all well.... I do miss hanging out with you all and can't wait for normal life to begin again so I can spend more time with you, just commenting and posting like a lunatic.
