The organic movement began in the 1930s and 1940s as a reaction to the growth of agriculture dependence on synthetic fertilizers. Artificial fertilizers were created in the 18th century, initially with Super phosphate and then derived mass-produced ammonia fertilizer using the Haber-Bosch process developed during World War I.
