As I wrote earlier, now in Ukraine, thanks to the support of the authorities, history is being "redrawn". Thus Bandera and Shukhevych from the enemies of the people, oppressors and perpetrators of massacres, become white and fluffy fighters for justice. Now the turn came to Petliura. In Western Ukraine, these murderers have been revered for a long time, but they did not dare to declare them openly, to declare the whole country to be heroes. This tradition was introduced by Yushchenko, in 2005 he signed a decree on the perpetuation of the memory of Simon Petliura and the installation of monuments in the city of Kiev. Fortunately someone else left their brains and monuments no to this day. Who is Simon Petliura and what did he do heroically?
Budchi chief ataman of the army and navy of the Directory of the UPR, the troops under his command committed mass killings of Jewish children, women and the elderly. I do not know why the Jews were so ungrateful to free Ukraine, but they were destroyed in all the cities where Petlyura residents passed. Of course now, "svidomye" will run into and I will throw in kakahi and scream that this was not. In response to this, we ask you one single question: if it was not, then why did the French court fully justify the murderer of your hero? Yes, because it was and at the trial there were many witnesses and victims in the course of the pogroms that the troops of the Directory of the UNR did.
Now about the crime and punishment. On May 25, 1926, Semyon (Simon) Petlyura was killed in Paris. The murderer - Samuel Schwarzbard, called him in Ukrainian, and when he turned around, he thrust 5 bullets into it. The killer did not run away, waited for the police and surrendered. At the trial, he motivated his act with these words: "When I was in Russia, one worker, not a Jew who had just left the hospital, told me that there were several former Petlyura officers there along with him. Cynically, with some kind of sadism, they boasted that five Jewish women were raped. Before that, I myself saw so many atrocities that I wanted to forget them more quickly, but the story of the worker made me remember that for these atrocities so far no one has avenged. And from that day on I was captured by the obsession to kill the guilty in all these horrors - Petlyura. " The judge raised the issue of pogroms and said that Petlyura himself claimed that he was not involved in the pogroms and massacres, while referring to the Bolsheviks, who allegedly wanted to discredit the UNR in this way. The trial lasted 8 days, the witnesses from the nationalist emigration invited by the prosecution tried to prove that Schwartzbard did not act on his own, but carried out the task of Moscow. However, this fact was not proved. Relatives and supporters of Bandera gave the court more than 200 documents, which testified that Petlyura not only did not encourage the killing of Jews, but also severely suppressed them. However, the court did not take them into account, because all of them were drawn up after the escape of Petliura and none of them was certified by his signature.
During the trial, many victims and witnesses of Petlyura pogroms were found. Someone was killed by a father or mother, someone was raped by a wife or daughter. And one woman even tore off her blouse and demonstrated the missing breasts, which she was cut off. There were also witnesses of several Jewish delegations who asked to stop the atrocities. To which Petliura replied, "Do not quarrel with my army!", And his military minister, the general-chorus, Vsevolod Petrov said: "Jewish pogroms are our banner!" Also in favor of Schwartzbard were prominent people of the time: Romain Rolland, Marc Chagall, Albert Einstein and October 26, 1927, the court fully acquitted Schwarzbard. He left the courtroom for glee and shouting of those present "Long live Franconia!" And "Long live justice!"
I personally do not want to build the heroic rank of this murderer, but I fully understand his motives. But just as I can not share Petlyura's views on free Ukraine and the massacres of the elderly, women and children. My opinion - he deservedly received his punishment.
