One of the favorite slogans in Soviet times, which were often written on banners during demonstrations, these words were on the roofs of houses, was: "freedom-equality-fraternity".In words, the Soviet state declared these conditions for all Soviet citizens. As a person who is fascinated by history, I have always been interested in how the Soviet state put its words into practice many years ago during Stalin’s time.modern admirers of Stalin in Russia claim that Stalin spent his whole life in one military french. Тhey forget to remind about a huge number of state "dacha"s for him, staff of cooks and guards, and the Kremlin as a palace.
Here is the area in which I live is still partly built up with houses built more than 70 years ago. For the most part, the house is a collapsing two-story wooden barracks in which there is no water supply and the toilet is one common on the street for two barracks.
But one two-storey residential building in the whole of this space I was interested and just recently picked up the girls from this house, I learned the history of this building.
This house was built in 1947 on an individual project. Тhe house was intended for living in it by the chief commanders of the nearby River Merchant Port. So what did the modest officials of the Soviet river merchant fleet get?
Тo this house, the only one for the whole quarter, hot and cold water supply was supplied, the house was connected to the central sewerage line. There were only two and three bedroom apartments. Еach apartment on the second floor has two balconies.
Тhe safety of the house and the quality of the brickwork makes me think that this house was built by Japanese prisoners of war, which were very widely used in the construction in the Far East at that time ("famous Japanese quality"). On the territory adjacent to the house there was a small garden in which beautiful trees and flowers grew. The territory of the house itself was fenced from the surrounding area with a fence more than 2 m high, at the entrance to the territory there was a guard.
This is how it was implemented for some in practice the principle of freedom equality and fraternity.
