One of the basic human needs is bathing, humans need to clean themselves periodically throughout their lives. Therefore, it is not surprising that baths can be found in the history of various civilizations around the world.
The photo above is of the Banyu Biru bath in Pasuruan in 1910, photographed by George P. Lewis and published by Studio Kurkdjian in Surabaya. Banyu Biru means blue water, this is because the source of this bathing water comes from springs whose water is blue.
That said, this bathhouse has existed since the time of the Majapahit Kingdom and once was visited by Hayam Wuruk on his way.
