Between 1783-86, the headquarters of the English government shifted permanently to Dinajpur city. Eventually the modern Dinajpur city started to grow.
Sibilians and white people employed in the administration to perform their own duties for the permanent governance of the East India Company and not to be part of the district were called 'station'. And there were important and ancient stations of north Bengal
