When I was having my day out last Tuesday, I had noticed this small monument with a lot of flowers in it. At first, I thought it was Adolf Hitler, so I questioned myself, why will Adolf Hitler be here? So I looked again and there you go, it’s not Adolf but Adolph and it’s not Hitler but Saurer.
Feeling funny to myself though.
So I took a picture and later in the apartment, I search who that was. And found out that..
Adolph Saurer was a Swiss Entrepreneur.
The son of Franz Saurer and Maria Catharina-Kunz .
In 1888, Adoph Saurer built his first petrol engines, the development of which was used in the last years of the last century for stationary applications in industry, commerce and ships.
He has a company, the Adolph Saurer AG in Arbon on Lake Constance, which was considered as the most important Swiss manufacturer of medium and heavy trucks and at times also of buses and trolleys as well as military vehicles.
The company is also one of the largest textile machinery manufacturers in the world with a turnover of 1.6 billion euros and almost 9000 employees.
I seemed not to notice this, but I was given a chance to really see the actual monument of one of the most influential person in Switzerland, specifically, Arbon.
