But soon everything changed as the second world war started. In 1941 Jugoslavia was occupied by Germany and Italy. The comparty organised resistance, but not everyone loved the idea. For example a Croatian facist Ante Pavelich formed the Free State of Croatia, which supported the nazis. At first the rest of Jugoslav army helped the communistic gorillas but because of differences in ideologies they started supporting the nazis. However soon Jugoslavian resistance started to win! During this war Jugoslavian gorillas became the only gorillas in history which had their Airforce and Fleet! On November 29th 1943 Jugoslavia was proclaimed a Democratic Federal Republic with Tito as a head of state.
