Weekend in Belluno cannot stand apart from great food and traditional dishes!
This great weekend was the 27th – 29th October.
That weekend, me and Mary were hosted by Angelo, an old friend of mine from the University and his wife as they got recently married and we were invited to the marriage but could not make it to take part.
The first traditional dish, from the South of Italy, directly from Mary’s parents are the so-called “morticeddi”, that is a typical sweet prepared for the All Saints feast. They are made of sugar and grinded almonds. The less sweet they are, the best they are (and the more they cost as almonds costs more than sugar).

Then, we prepared an amazing roasting party, based on just vegetables as I do not any more meat, Mary eats only the one from her parents and Alice, Angelo’s wife has almost stopped with meat.
Then, we prepared a great grilled mixed vegetables with zucchini, peppers, aubergines, radicchio and polenta!
Here the before and the “during phases” of the preparation of the roasting phase.

The last lunch, we went in a farmhouse, quite near to where Angelo and Alice live, where they prepare only meals with their own products. Also here, we asked for the vegetarian meal and we started with great appetizers made of vegetables and some light cheeses (some pictures here are missing as we were too delighted).

Then a great pumpkin soup with amazing spices (thyme, rosemary and so on…)

As a second “first course” we were brought Ravioli filled with cheese and spinach. So tasty!

And as a third first course, gnocchi made of potato with pumpkin sauce, served, of course, in a pumpkin :D

To end the meal, according to a typical Italian Motto saying “La bocca non l’è straca finchè non la sa da vaca” meaning: “Mouth is not tired until it has not eaten some cheese”, we were served local cheese with a mustard they prepare themselves.
