Hello Hive friends, I hope you are all doing well today. It is always nice to come here and share a little part of my daily life, especially when it comes to food. Sometimes it is the simple meals that make the biggest difference, and that is exactly what I want to talk about today.There are days when I just want something simple on my plate, and yesterday was one of those days. I didn’t want to stress myself too much in the kitchen, but at the same time, I wanted something filling and tasty. After thinking for a while, I decided to go with white rice and vegetable sauce. This combination may look very common, but the truth is that it never disappoints me.
I started by putting my rice on the fire. Cooking rice doesn’t really take much time, but I like to wash mine properly before cooking so it comes out clean and fluffy. While the rice was cooking, I turned my attention to the soup. I already had some meat ,oil and stockfish at home, so I didn’t need to go out and buy much. The sauce I prepared is the type that gives off a nice aroma once you add palm oil and spices, so even before I finished, the whole kitchen was already smelling good.
For the sauce, I first boiled the meat and seasoned it very well. I like my meat to be soft enough to chew but still have that nice taste that comes with proper seasoning. After that, I added palm oil, crayfish, pepper, and some stock fish to make it richer. Once everything was boiling nicely, I brought in the main part of the dish — the vegetables. The green vegetables gave the soup that fresh look and also balanced the taste of the spices and meat.
By the time I was done, the rice was ready too. I quickly served myself, and honestly, the food looked so inviting that I didn’t even wait too long before eating. The soft rice with the thick vegetable soup was just the right match. Every spoon had a good mix of rice, vegetables, and meat, and I enjoyed it very much.
What I like most about meals like this is how they remind me of home. Growing up, rice and vegetable soup was one of those meals that my family enjoyed often. Sometimes it was cooked on special occasions, and other times it was just our normal Sunday food. Sitting down with this plate yesterday brought back those memories, and I felt grateful for the simple things of life.
Another thing about this kind of meal is that it doesn’t stress too much. Unlike some complicated recipes that take hours to prepare, rice and vegetable soup can be ready in less than an hour if all the ingredients are already available. That makes it one of my go-to meals whenever I don’t want to stay long in the kitchen.
Food is not just about eating; it also carries stories and experiences. For me, this plate of rice and vegetable soup is not just food, but comfort. It is the kind of food that reminds me that even when things are stressful, I can always find joy in something as simple as a meal.After finishing my plate, I felt satisfied and relaxed. It was nothing too fancy, but it was exactly what I needed. Sometimes the best meals are the ones that are simple, homemade, and prepared with love.
