Here's a cool vintage bunch of banjoukes that the vintage guitar store I used to help out got in an airdrop from an estate sale. Interestingly enough they all sold as a set within a week. Maybe someone wanted these antiques to hang on their wall, most had bad frets and warped necks so they would need a lot of fixing to get playable. Anyway this is #teletuesday not banjoeusday...
Here is the one that got away from me. This is a solid built 1969 telecaster with some true vintage wear to it.
It used to be white back in the day but has aged to a vintage yellow with nice smooth wear around the edges and just a bit of pillowing on the pickguard.
The store owner called this one the "fretless wonder" because the frets were worn down to about half their height yet amazingly none of the action buzzed. So you could get some really low action play with almost a fretless feel.
The back has some buckle rash and the edges all have a nice wear to them revealing the original white color it used to have before it got sunbaked. I really wanted this guitar at the time, it had a nice solid build and strong neck joint and a classic tele twang to the pickups. If only I had 7k at the time lol. Now you can find one for around 8-10k on reverb with the fake ones being around 3k.
I used to go into the store and play the tele on this weird White Castle amp by Cruz.
These are a bit of a rare find and have a nice clean tone to them that take pedals really well. I think the tubes inside really broke up distortion and overdrive pedals nicely.
