I have posted previously about my guitar pick/plectrum collection. Here are a few pictures to show the variety available. My collection is just for fun and I am not too bothered about value, although I would love to have picks by some of my favourite guitarists. If my Hive gains enough value then I may look into buying some of those.
These are all by the Dunlop company. The nylon ones are sorted thick to thin and I think they inidicate that by the colour. Personally I do not get on with really thin picks. The Tortex picks are also colour-coded and go from thin to thick from the left..
These are all artist picks. I was given most of these after putting out requests before. They were not necessarily used by those artists as many of them have lots made to sell or give away. Top right is one I bought at a Jon Gomm gig. Bottom left was sent to me by himself in Australia. He sent me a CD too.
These show some of the variety of shape and material. Some of these are metal, but I find that too 'scratchy' on the wound strings.
These are the picks I actually use the most. The round one is a Pointless Pick. Due to my right hand nerve damage I find these easier to keep hold of. The white one is a Snake Pick that you wear on the index finger. That makes it hard to drop. The black is a Wegen made for gypsy jazz. Those are pretty expensive, but a friend bought it for me. I like the Gravity pick for electric as it is easy to hold and gives a good tone. The variety available just shows that people have different preferences and needs.
I am always interested in more picks for the collection. If you have any that you think I might like then get in touch. I will pay in Hive to at least cover postage and we can negotiate on any extra for special cases. I do not mind if they are worn out.
If you have your own collection of anything guitar-related then please post it in the Guitar Community.
Rock on!
