Hablar de cultura en Santiago de Cuba, sin incluir la religión yoruba, sería incompleto. Nuestras tradiciones son tan poderosas que incluso hasta las personas que no practican estas costumbres se sienten identificadas, atraídas de alguna forma por los rituales y todo el misticismos de los patakíes y dioses de estas prácticas, aun cuando sean devotos a otros tipos de comuniones.
El marco del Festival del Caribe siempre es el ambiente propicio para presenciar algunas de estas ceremonias, que por lo general se realizan de forma privada. Las mismas tienen lugar a lo largo de la ciudad en diferentes locaciones. Ritos de menor envergadura se llevan a cabo en La Casa del Caribe, la cual consta de dos instalaciones y en la 2da hay una gran ceiba en medio del patio, que se presta para hacer ebbó. La población que disfruta de las fiestas puede presenciarlo y a su vez conocer un poco al respecto, romper tabúes, esquematismos sociales en torno a estás costumbres que más allá de religión es idiosincrasia de nuestro pueblo.
Talking about culture in Santiago de Cuba, without including the Yoruba religion, would be incomplete. Our traditions are so powerful that even people who do not practice Yoruba customs identified themselves, attracted in some way by these rituals and all the mysticism of the patakíes and gods of these practices, even when they are devoted to other types of religions.
The framework of the Caribbean Festival is always the right environment to witness some of these ceremonies, which are generally held privately. The population that enjoys the festivities can witness it and in turn learn a little about it, break taboos, social schematisms around these customs that, beyond religion, are idiosyncrasies of our people.
El arte es el amparo ante todo lo que caracteriza a una sociedad, es por ello que la Fiesta del Fuego, donde se reúnen tantas personas del Caribe y el mundo es el espacio para abrazar nuestra cultura, a nuestros ancestros y creencias. En la muestra se rindió tributo a dioses que rigen los procesos de la vida, la muerte y la reencarnación, ya que es la temática que trata el Festival este año, teniendo a México como país invitado y sus costumbres de celebrar el día de los muertos.
En la ofrenda religiosa al pie del árbol, que en este caso no es una ceiba, si no más bien una simulación de ella ya que el espectáculo se realizó en el patio de la Asociación Hermanos Saíz (AHS) y no en la instalación número 2 de la Casa del Caribe, hay una foto con el nombre Tití. Este señor fue un artista santiaguero, presidente por muchos años de la AHS, lo que agrupa a la joven vanguardia artística de Cuba, teatrero, quien dirigiera en la ciudad los espectáculos de las estatuas vivientes y una persona muy querida por todos.
De este modo se le rindió tributo ayer en una de las actividades de la ciudad.

This gentleman was an artist from Santiago, president for many years of the AHS, which brings together the young artistic vanguard of Cuba, theater director, who directed the shows of the living statues in the city and a person very dear to all.
