Siempre me ha encantado la radio. Me gusta escuchar música y también novelas que se transmiten por radio. Una de las emisoras que prefiero es “Radio Progreso”, a la que se le llama Emisora de la Familia Cubana, y que por estos días cumplirá 94 años de fundada (15 de diciembre de 1929).
A través de las novelas que en esa radio se transmiten pude conocer obras de la literatura universal que son adaptadas por escritores y guionistas para transmitirlas en forma de Novela Radial.
Un mundo fascinante puedes imaginar por lo descriptivas que las narran. Imagínense por ejemplo “Cumbres Borrascosas”, Emily Brontë, “Romeo y Julieta”, de Willian Shakespeare o “Crimen y Castigo”, de Fiódor Dostoyevski, en voces de personas que encantan y se sienten personajes tan reales.
Novelas cubanas que no puedo dejar de mencionar como “El derecho de nacer”, de Félix Benjamín Caignet, que fue escuchada en toda América Latina. “Cecilia Valdés”, de Cirilo Villaverde y otras y otras.

Luego descubrí hace unos años la comunicación Radial sin cable y me llamó la atención la Radio afición y el deseo de conocer y comunicarme con personas de todo el mundo e intercambiar ideas, aprender la electrónica y también la informática.

Me entusiasmó la idea de tener mis propios equipos y poder ayudar a personas en peligro de diferente tipo como son ciclones, naufragios, incendios y accidentes. Tuve que estudiar mucho porque no es solo coger el equipo de radio y transmitir es escuchar y descifrar los mensajes que en ocasiones vienen en código Morse.
En Cuba ser radioaficionado lleva una gran responsabilidad pues estamos en una zona donde se dan muchos eventos climatológicos y hay muchas zonas de silencio. Es tan emocionante cuando estableces una comunicación y puedes ayudar.
He podido establecer enlaces con México, la Florida y Venezuela, pero mi equipo carece de potencia para llegar más lejos.
Hoy soy miembro activo de la Federación de Radio Aficionados de Cuba. Poseo un equipo trasmisor manual Kenwood TK-270 y uno de mesa HYT TM-800V y para la comunicación con el repetidor de Radio Cuba una antena ¨J¨.
Lo importante es la labor que realizo, que además de ser para mí un hobby es el servicio que presto a la comunidad en situaciones de emergencia por desastres naturales, siniestros, terremotos, inundaciones y ciclones.
Los SOS recibidos son replicados por nosotros y encaminado a los diferentes factores, nuestro trabajo es muy humano pues además atendemos cualquier urgencia de interés de la comunidad y el Estado.
El teléfono móvil es otro medio de comunicación pero no puede sustituir la labor de un radioaficionado. Nuestra organización no gubernamental y completamente voluntaria alcanza a nivel mundial más de tres millones de personas.
Creo que mi participación ahora en esta plataforma HIVE sigue siendo el poder comunicarme e intercambiar con personas de diferentes países del mundo y conocer y transmitir recíprocamente experiencias y vivencias.

I was excited about the idea of having my own equipment and being able to help people in different types of danger such as cyclones, shipwrecks, fires and accidents. In Cuba being a ham radio operator carries a great responsibility because we are in an area where there are many weather events and there are many areas of silence. It is so exciting when you establish a communication and you can help.
I have been able to establish links with Mexico, Florida and Venezuela, but my equipment lacks the power to reach further.
Today I am an active member of the Federation of Amateur Radio of Cuba. I have a Kenwood TK-270 hand-held transmitter and a HYT TM-800V tabletop transmitter and a "J" antenna for communication with the Radio Cuba repeater.
The important thing is the work I do, which besides being a hobby for me is the service I provide to the community in emergency situations due to natural disasters, disasters, earthquakes, floods and cyclones.
The SOS received are replicated by us and directed to the different factors, our work is very human because we also attend any emergency of interest to the community and the State.
The cell phone is another means of communication but it cannot replace the work of a radio amateur. Our non-governmental and completely voluntary organization reaches more than three million people worldwide.
I believe that my participation in this HIVE platform continues to be to be able to communicate and exchange with people from different countries of the world and to get to know and pass on experiences and experiences to each other.
