Como les comenté en un post anterior, en estos meses, la Habana es la capital mundial del Arte del tercer mundo. Aunque en la actualidad la bienal de arte contemporáneo también incluye obras y proyectos de artistas de países desarrollados.
En la antigua casa Sarra, existe una de las exposiciones mas novedosas de la Bienal. Concebida dentro del proyecto: HB. Muestra de Arte Cubano Contemporáneo, es un encuentro interdisciplinario entre artistas visuales, arquitectos y diseñadores cubanos. Esta muestra explora la interrelación y la fusión de las esencias creativas de estos profesionales.
Recuerdo que en la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas, teníamos la asignatura de diseño. Y en el Instituto Superior de Arte, el arquitecto Augusto Rivero, a quien le fuera otorgado el premio nacional de arquitectura, nos enseñaba diseño ambiental; una asignatura que prepara a los artistas para trabajar en equipo junto a ingenieros, diseñadores, arquitectos y otros profesionales en la ejecución de proyectos de Escultura Monumental y ambiental en entornos citadinos y al aire libre...
Mas de 20 creadores participan con sus obras, y eso hace muy interesante el resultado de la muestra, no solo por la variedad de profesiones que confluyen, sino también por que son de diferentes generaciones y estilos. Creo que la Galería Servando, principal promotora de esta exposición, logró hacer un buen balance entre todos los participantes y sus tendencias creativas.....las imágenes que les comparto muestran el feliz resultado de la curaduría.
Algo que favorece la visualidad es la restauración a que fue sometida la antigua Casa Sarra, que en lo adelante acogerá un centro expositivo. Situada en: Malecón, Nro. 507-511, esq. Lealtad, en el municipio Centro Habana, tiene la belleza de estar situada frente al mar, pero la exposición al salitre y las inundaciones del mar complejizan la restauración y mantenimiento del inmueble.
Me detengo en esta escultura de acero de la autoría de José Villa Soberón, quien fuera mi profesor de escultura en el 2do año del Instituto Superior de Arte. A Villa se le conoce más popularmente por sus esculturas realistas de personajes de la cultura cubana y universal, como las de John Lennon y el Caballero de París. Pero su obra más personal viene de una escultura minimalista, de apariencias geométricas, donde predomina el uso de los metales.
Las obras de carácter bidimensional también tuvieron su representación. Ya fueran pinturas, dibujos o ejercicios del diseño, tenían una gran calidad artística y enriquecieron la versatilidad técnica de este proyecto expositivo.
Obras bidimensionales, tridimensionales, instalaciones, objetos decorativos y muchas otras tendencias del arte y el diseño fueron incorporadas a este proyecto, una de las curadurías mejor realizadas de la Bienal. Esten pendientes de mis próximas publicaciones en las que pienso mostrarles otros sitios expositivos, pues estamos en los días de la Bienal de la Habana....y la Bienal está en la calle!!

I think that Servando Gallery, the main promoter of this exhibition, managed to make a good balance between all the participants and their creative tendencies ..... The images I share with you show the happy result of the curatorship.
Something that favors the visual aspect is the restoration of the old Sarra House, which will be used in the future as an exhibition center. Located at: Malecón, No. 507-511, corner Lealtad, in the Centro Habana municipality, it has the beauty of being located in front of the sea, but the exposure to saltpeter and floods from the sea make the restoration and maintenance of the building complex.
I stop at this steel sculpture by José Villa Soberón, who was my sculpture teacher in the 2nd year of the Instituto Superior de Arte. Villa is more popularly known for his realistic sculptures of Cuban and universal cultural figures, such as John Lennon and the Gentleman of Paris. But his most personal work comes from a minimalist sculpture, of geometric appearances, where the use of metals predominates.
Works of a two-dimensional nature were also represented. Whether they were paintings, drawings or design exercises, they had a great artistic quality and enriched the technical versatility of this exhibition project.
Two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, installations, decorative objects and many other art and design trends were incorporated into this project, one of the best curatorial works of the Biennial.
