Hello, friend of #Hive. Perhaps you have heard that the game is the first school of social relations, because through it we are initiated into the world of norms or rules, essential for a happy coexistence, but I dare to say that this activity with so much formative potential, in many cases, is also the prelude to a vocation.
To support the above statement, I will share with you some of my experiences, and the first thing I must admit is that my childhood games were quite atypical. Generally, children express their interest in becoming doctors, firemen, policemen, teachers, bricklayers or carpenters, just to name a few trades and professions; however, these did not figure in my childhood fantasies.

Quizás has escuchado decir que el juego constituye la primera escuela de las relaciones sociales, pues mediante él nos iniciamos en ese mundo de normas o reglas, indispensables para una feliz convivencia, pero me atrevo a asegurar que esta actividad con tanto potencial formativo, en muchos casos, también es la antesala de una vocación.
Para sustentar la afirmación anterior, voy a compartir contigo algunas de mis vivencias, y lo primero que debo admitir es que mis juegos infantiles fueron bastante atípicos. Generalmente, los pequeños manifiestan su interés por ser doctores, bomberos, policías, maestros, albañiles o carpinteros, por solo citar algunos oficios y profesiones; sin embargo, estas no figuraban en las fantasías de mi niñez.

Some of my days were spent in an imaginary radio booth, from which I imitated the announcers I listened to at home, but this vocation will be the pretext for a future post. On other days I was enthusiastic about the idea of being a renowned meteorologist, so the family members felt obliged to listen, over and over again, to a peculiar weather report, in which there was no lack of the distinctive phrases of the specialists in the field, usual on television and much awaited by the people.
Algunos de mis días transcurrían en una imaginaria cabina de radio, desde la que imitaba a las locutoras que escuchaba en casa, pero esta vocación será el pretexto para un próximo post. En otras jornadas me entusiasmaba la idea de ser una reconocida meteoróloga, así que los miembros de la familia se sentían obligados a escuchar, una y otra vez, un peculiar parte del tiempo, en el que no faltaban las frases distintivas de los especialistas en la materia, habituales en la televisión y muy esperados por el pueblo.

I will never forget one of my most daring anecdotes, at the same time tinged with the innocence of being only nine years old. My province was threatened by a dangerous hurricane and at my mother's work they made a morning newscast, with the purpose of offering the pertinent orientations. When the director went to refer to the fateful forecast for Pinar del Rio, everyone looked surprised at the thin and restless girl who asked for permission to address the subject. I guess I didn't do it too accurately, but adults find it hard to resist the spontaneity of children, so the applause made me feel very stimulated.
Nunca olvidaré una de mis anécdotas más atrevidas, al mismo tiempo matizada por la inocencia que proporciona tener solo nueve años. Mi provincia era amenazada por un peligroso huracán y en el trabajo de mi mamá realizaron un matutino, con el objetivo de ofrecer las orientaciones pertinentes. Cuando la directora fue a referirse al fatídico pronóstico para Pinar del Río, todos miraron sorprendidos a la niña delgada e inquieta que solicitaba permiso para abordar el tema. Supongo que no lo hice con demasiada precisión, pero a los adultos les resulta difícil resistirse ante la espontaneidad de los niños, así que los aplausos me hicieron sentir muy estimulada.

Although no one spoke to me directly on the subject, because it is difficult to truncate a dream, the course of the years and the maturity that I acquired made me understand that Meteorology is a science in which a good vision is essential. Someone once told me that a disability does not define you, but the way you decide to face it, so I restructured my field of action, so that my professional choice would be made objectively, that is, based on my needs and potential.
Aunque nadie me habló directamente del tema, por lo difícil que resulta truncar un sueño, el transcurso de los años y la madurez que fui adquiriendo, me hicieron comprender que la Meteorología es una ciencia en la que una buena visión resulta esencial. Alguien me dijo cierta vez que una discapacidad no te define, sino la manera en que decides enfrentarla, así que reestructuré mi campo de acción, con el objetivo de que mi elección profesional fuera realizada con objetividad, es decir, sobre la base de mis necesidades y potencialidades.

I admit that my meteorological vocation has not disappeared, so I actively participate in Whatsapp groups related to the subject, in addition, as an announcer I make special programs through the radio, with the aim of informing the people when some cyclonic organism visits us.
In April last year I received a long-awaited surprise, which until then I considered utopian.

Admito que mi vocación meteorológica no ha desaparecido, por lo que participo activamente en grupos de Whatsapp vinculados a la temática, además, como locutora realizo programaciones especiales a través de la radio, con el objetivo de informar al pueblo cuando algún organismo ciclónico nos visita.
En abril del pasado año recibí una sorpresa muy anhelada, que hasta entonces consideraba utópica.

It was very emotional to be close to this prestigious professional that I have admired and followed since I was a child. What impressed me most was his humility and the naturalness with which he agreed to take several pictures with us. Then I understood that the colloquial language he uses in the media is not due to a work requirement, but to his simplicity, which elevates his greatness to extraordinary levels.
I didn't think it was the right time to tell him much about myself.
It was enough for me to enjoy listening to his explanations about the predictions for the hurricane season and the way in which he knew how to integrate himself into the humorous segment of the television program. When we said goodbye, I only expressed my eternal gratitude to him, because the work I have done in the special programs has been possible thanks to his master classes, almost daily.
Fue muy emotivo tener cerca a ese prestigioso profesional que admiro y sigo desde niña. Lo que más me impresionó fue su humildad y la naturalidad con que aceptó tomarse varias fotos con nosotros. Entonces entendí que el lenguaje coloquial que utiliza en los medios de comunicación no se debe a una exigencia laboral, sino a su sencillez, que eleva su grandeza a niveles extraordinarios.
No creí que fuera un momento propicio para hablarle mucho de mí.
Me bastaba con deleitarme al escuchar sus explicaciones sobre los vaticinios para la temporada ciclónica y el modo en que supo integrarse al segmento humorístico del espacio televisivo. Al despedirnos, solo le manifesté mi agradecimiento eterno, porque el trabajo que he realizado en las programaciones especiales, ha sido posible gracias a sus magistrales clases, casi diarias.

Today I understand that the meteorological culture of the country is not only due to its geographical location, but also to the talent of that much admired and respected teacher, who does not spare consecutive sleepless nights and works uninterruptedly until he is absolutely certain that the danger has passed.
Hoy entiendo que la cultura meteorológica del país no solo se debe a su situación geográfica, sino al talento de ese maestro tan admirado y respetado, que no escatima noches consecutivas de desvelo y labora de manera ininterrumpida, hasta tener la certeza absoluta de que el peligro ha pasado.
