Mating season has arrived, a pair of plains cupids use their time to vent their desires for each other. There is no threat from predators, so they freely carry out copulation in the bush.
Which is male, and which is female? if you look with the naked eye, you will not find a difference between the two, unless you will know that the male is smaller than the female.
The plains cupid (Luthrodes pandava) is a beautiful small butterfly, it bears a resemblance to the Zizina otis, and they are close relatives. However, the plains cupid has black spots and one bright orange marker on its wings, which is what distinguishes it from Zizina otis.
Apart from being known as the plains cupid, it is also commonly known as cycad blue. It is a butterfly species belonging to the Lycaenidae family.
