This little guy was seen by me hanging out one afternoon at the edge of the reservoir. It seemed like he was waiting for the sunset. Usually he is quite active and aggressive if you approach him, but that afternoon he looked so calm, perched on the dried petals of coatbuttons. This little guy is Eristalinus megacephalus, a species of hoverfly belonging to the Syrphidae family.
