Fascinating Insects - Drone - a male honey bee.
I think that many of you often see winged insects on flowers, which we call Drones.
He is the male in the honeybee family.
The drone is a bum, this is a common noun, which, most likely, is based on ignorance of the structure of the bee colony and the life of bees in general.
I took the photographs of the drone yesterday. He sat on a marigold flower and walked lazily over it.
This slowness is due to the fact that the weather was cool and I am surprised that this drone went for a walk.
But, these photographs will help me tell you about the important role of this man.
Imagine for a moment that you become a beekeeper.
At first, you are happy, and you don't care what kind of bees you have, the main thing is that they would bring honey.
But, over time, as you gain experience, you want to get more honey and get the most out of your apiary.
Then, you will want to update your apiary and focus your attention on a certain breed of bees with specific properties for this breed.
For example, you learned that the Italian breed of bees, gives a large offspring, brings a lot of nectar, they are not evil and rarely sting the beekeeper, which is already good.
To do this, you will acquire a fertilized queen bee, which will give birth and, in less than two months, all your bees will be of the Italian breed.
But, a few more years will pass and your experience will reach unprecedented heights and you will decide that there is no point in paying money for queen bees, they can be raised on your own.
So you've raised a queen bee. You took a layer of bees and put them together as a queen bee in a nucleus - a small hive.
When the uterus is ready for fertilization, it will make its first flight.
At this moment, the fastest in the world will be chasing her!
I did not make a reservation, many drones will fly after her, which should fertilize her.
And so, in the end, you got a fetal queen bee that can replace the old queen, you are happy. But, happiness may end in a couple of months, when this queen bee gives birth and it turns into bees.
You can see that the bees, the children of this event, have become smaller and bring less honey. They no longer look like Italian bees.
The fact is that among the drones that flew after the queen bee, there were drones from a neighboring apiary, where, a novice beekeeper, does not worry about what breed of bees in his apiary.
It is the drones, not the queen bee, that determine the breed of bees.
Philosophers argue which came first, the chicken or the egg?
The same question can be pondered about bees and drones, who was before?
A drone is a harmless and cute creature.
And when people praise the merits of bees, I do not understand why, they do not say anything about drones.
Photos taken with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300 camera
I edited a photo in the program PhotoDirector, which I also installed on my smartphone.
For my publications, I do not use stock photographs, it is fundamentally important for me to use photographs that I have made with my own hands for publication and I can name them - authorial work.
