Schlichte Raubfliege
Machimus rusticus (Meigen, 1820)
In den vergangenen Tagen war ich immer wieder auf der Suche nach dem hellen Wiesenknopf-Ameisenbläuling (Phengaris teleius). Leider bisher ohne Erfolg. In den wenigen Gebieten im Spessart, in denen der Falter vorkommt, ist nichts zu finden. Der Schmetterling ist verschwunden. Nach dem ich bis spät in den Abend ein Gebiet im Spessart durchsucht hatte, ist mir diese imposante Raubfliege aufgefallen. Für eine Fliege ist sie ein echter Brummer mit circa 25 mm Körperlänge. Raubfliegen jagen ihre Beute von einem Ansitz aus. Zu ihrem Beutespektrum gehören, eine große Palette an Fluginsekten, die sie in der Luft erbeuten.
Mir hat die Raubfliege nur diese eine Aufnahme (Stack aus 36 Schärfeebenen) gegönnt, bevor sie sich einen anderen Ansitz gesucht hat. Raubfliegen sind relativ Scheu und ergreifen bei der geringsten Störung die Flucht.
During the past days I was always on the lookout for the scarce large blue (Phengaris teleius). Unfortunately without success so far. In the few areas in the Spessart, where the butterfly occurs, nothing is to be found. The butterfly has disappeared. After having searched an area in the Spessart until late in the evening, I noticed this impressive robbery fly. For a fly it is a real growler with a body length of about 25 mm. Robber flies hunt their prey from a raised hide. Their prey spectrum includes a wide range of flying insects that they prey on in the air.
The robbery fly only allowed me this one shot (stack of 36 focus planes) before it looked for another hide. Robber flies are relatively shy and take flight at the slightest disturbance.

Nachfolgend noch eine Aufnahme aus dem Habitat der Raubfliege. Die Wiesen unterliegen einem Mahdmannagment welches das Wohl der seltenen Schmetterlinge berücksichtigt. Ich werde in den kommenden Tagen weiter nach dem verschollenen Bläuling suchen. Die Hoffnung bleibt, dass er weiterhin im Spessart überlebt.
