This week the weather has been pretty crazy in my town, some days it rains and it's really cold, other days it's hot as hell and I have to soak all day (in a pool or in the sea), which even puts me in a bad mood because heat is not my thing. Today, however, has been a good day, the weather has been cloudy, gray skies most of the day, and very breezy, it will probably rain later, so I took the opportunity to spend a good part of the day with my Mathias in the garden, he helped me a little to pick up the dry leaves of the lemon tree and then he included me in his fantasies inside a plastic basket pretending to be a car, how divine to be a child without worries! While he was riding in his car, I was checking out some plants and meeting some little friends.
A small spread-winged butterfly and a grasshopper were my models this afternoon, the afternoon was so calm and I think they sensed it, as I was able to take a large number of pictures of it to choose later the best ones and show them to them. This spread-winged butterfly Staphylus Mazans was on one of the pomegranate trees I have in the garden, and although there was a stiff breeze it did not move at all, I must have spent about 5 minutes taking pictures of it and it never moved, it is also known as Mazans Sooty Wings.
In one of my Kalanchoe plants was almost hidden this Short-antennaed Grasshopper Abracris Flavolineata. A couple of weeks ago my aunt was alarmed because she found one of these but family size in the living room of her house, the truth is that it was about 10 centimeters long approximately, and although I am not very friendly with them, because they give me chills just seeing them, I can not deny that I find them fascinating insects.
Just imagining how high and fast they can jump thanks to their legs, is something worthy of admiration. There are only three known species of Abracris, which are these short antennae grasshoppers, so I can say that I feel privileged to see one of these in my garden, although to tell the truth the noise they usually produce at night is quite loud. Finding concrete information on both the short-antenna grasshoppers and the open-winged butterflies like the ones I showed you, is really an arduous task, because there is so much scattered and not very explicit information that I have spent hours trying to compile and I still can't find what corresponds to the specific feeding of these two and if they are some kind of pests, so I still have to investigate, but I leave you these photographs that I was allowed to take this afternoon.

Esta semana el clima ha estado bastante disparatado en mi pueblo, unos días llueve y hace un frio sabroso, otros días hace un calor infernal en el que provoca estar todo el día en remojo (en una piscina o en el mar), lo cual incluso me pone de mal humor pues el calor no es lo mío. Hoy, sin embargo, ha sido un buen día, el clima ha estado nublado, cielo gris la gran parte del día, y mucha brisa, probablemente llueva más tarde, así que aproveche de pasar una buena parte del día con Mi Mathias en el jardín, me ayudo un poco a recoger las hojas secas del limonero y luego me incluyo en sus fantasías metido dentro de una cesta plástica simulando ser un automóvil, ¡Que divino es ser un niño sin preocupaciones! Mientras él viajaba en su auto, yo me dedique a revisar algunas plantas y me encontré con algunos amiguitos.
Una pequeña mariposa de alas abiertas y un chapulín fueron mis modelos de esta tarde, la tarde estaba tan tranquila y creo que ellos lo percibieron, pues pude tomarle un gran número de fotografías para escoger luego las mejores y mostrárselas. Esta mariposa de alas extendidas Staphylus Mazans estaba en uno de los árboles de granada que tengo en el jardín, y aunque había una brisa fuerte no se movía en lo absoluto, debo haber estado unos 5 minutos tomándole fotografías y nunca se movió, también es conocida como Alas de Hollín de Mazans.
En una de mis plantas de Kalanchoe se encontraba casi oculto este Chapulín de Antenas Cortas Abracris Flavolineata. Hace un par de semanas mi tía estaba alarmada porque encontró uno de estos pero tamaño familiar en la sala de su casa, la verdad es que era de unos 10 centímetros de largo aproximadamente, y aunque yo no soy muy amiga de ellos, pues me producen escalofríos de tan solo verlos, no puedo negar que me parecen insectos fascinantes.
El solo hecho de imaginar lo alto y rápido que pueden saltar gracias a sus patas, es algo digno de admiración. Se conocen apenas tres especies de Abracris, que son estos saltamontes de antenas cortas, así que puedo decir que me siento privilegiada de ver uno de estos en mi jardín, aunque a decir verdad el ruido que suelen producir por las noches es bastante fuerte. Encontrar información concreta tanto de los chapulines de antenas cortas, como de las mariposas de alas abiertas como las que les mostré, es realmente una tarea ardua, pues hay tanta información dispersa y poco explicita que he pasado horas intentando recopilar y no llego aun a encontrar lo que corresponde a la alimentación especifica de estos dos y si son algún tipo de plagas, así que aún me queda por investigar, pero les dejo estas fotografías que me permitieron hacerles en esta tarde.
