¡Saludos amantes de los insectos! ¿Qué hace una persona normal cuando encuentra un insecto bajo el implacable sol del mediodía? Bueno, la verdad es que no lo sé jajaja, lo más probable es que corra a buscar la sombra sin siquiera fijarse en el insecto, pero yo, como no soy muy normal que se diga, pues saco mi teléfono, aguanto el fuerte calor y me quedo sudando bajo el intenso sol tropical del mediodía 🥵😂, lo cierto es que no perderé esa oportunidad fotográfica jajaja, quizás sea la que me haga llegar a National Geographic 😎😃, uno nunca sabe 😉.

Hello insect lovers! What does a normal person do when she/he finds an insect under the relentless midday sun? Well, the truth is that I don't know hahaha, probably they will run to find the shade without even noticing the insect, but I, since I'm not very normal, as it is said, well, I take out my phone, I stand the strong heat and I stay sweating under the intense tropical midday sun 😂, the truth is that I won't miss that photographic opportunity hahaha, maybe it'll be the one that gets me to National Geographic 😎😃, you never know 😉.

Los dos balcones de mi apartamento están hacia el oeste, eso significa que el sol de la tarde cae generosamente sobre nosotros 🥴🥵🔥 jajaja. Cuando hay buen tiempo y cielo despejado, el simple hecho de asomarse al balcón a hacer algo es un acto de valentía jajaja y es por eso que me llamó tanto la atención ver a esta pequeña amiga descansando de lo más tranquila sobre el muro del balcón.

The two balconies of my apartment are facing west, this means that the afternoon sun falls generously on us 🥴🥵🔥 hahaha. When there is good weather and clear skies, the simple act of going out to the balcony to do something is an act of bravery hahaha and that is why it caught my attention to see this little friend resting very calmly on the balcony wall.

Revisando en internet la identifiqué como una polilla Melipotis famelica, estas polillas pertenecen a la familia de las Erebidae y se consiguen desde el sur de Estados Unidos hasta el Caribe y Paraguay. Lamentablemente es la única información que encontré sobre ellas 😕.

Checking the internet I identified it as a Melipotis famelica moth, these moths belong to the Erebidae family and are found from the southern United States to the Caribbean and Paraguay. Unfortunately it is the only information I found about them 😕.

Si observan bien verán las antenas desplagadas hacia atrás sobre las alas / If you look closely you will see the antennae spread backwards on the wings

Esta polilla estaba tranquila, pude haberla tomado para ponerla en la sombra y así no seguir achicharrándome 🥵 pero seguramente se asustaría y saldría volando, así que como haría todo buen fotógrafo, (yo tan sólo intento serlo), soporté estoicamente el inclemente calor e hice estas fotos sin poder ver nada 😵 jajaja ya que el resplandor del sol no me lo permitía, gajes del oficio dirían los profesionales de la cámara 😎📷.

This moth was calm, I could have taken her to put her in the shade so as not to continue burning myself 🥵 but she would surely get scared and fly away, so as any good photographer would do, (I'm just trying to be one), I stoically endured the inclement heat and took these photos without being able to see anything 😵 hahaha since the glare of the sun didn't allow it, occupational hazards would say the camera professionals 😎📷.

No sé si hay técnicas para hacer fotos en estas condiciones de tanto sol, aparte de usar un sombrero mexicano jajaja, supongo que sí, pero en mi caso y como no las conozco, lo único que se me ocurrió que podía hacer cuando me di cuenta que no podía ver lo que estaba fotografiando fue tomar muchas fotos con la suerte de que alguna saliera buena jajaja 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I don't know if there are techniques to take photos in these sunny conditions, apart from wearing a Mexican hat hahaha, I guess so, but in my case, and since I don't know them, the only thing that occurred to me that I could do when I realized I couldn't see what I was photographing, was to took a lot of photos with the luck that some of them turned out good hahaha 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Cuando en la noche me puse a revisar las fotos vi que a pesar de todo no me fue tan mal con esa técnica jajaja y logré hacer varias fotos aceptables que son las que comparto hoy con ustedes. La verdad es que esta sesión fotográfica no duró más de tres minutos, pues si, pero una cosa son tres minutos en cualquier otro lugar que tres minutos bajo el sol tropical de mi ciudad y en pleno mediodía, eso es una eternidad 😬🥵🥴😵😂.

When I started to review the photos that night I saw that despite everything, I didn't do too badly with that technique hahaha and I managed to take several acceptable photos, which are the ones I share with you today. The truth is that this photo session didn't last more than three minutes, well yes, but it's not the same thing three minutes anywhere else than three minutes under the tropical sun of my city and at midday, that's an eternity 😬🥵🥴😵😂.

Al final creo que la señora o el señor Melipotis famelica se apiadó de mí y decidió irse jajaja, abrió sus alas y ahí aparecieron unas lindas manchas blancas en la parte central de las alas que prácticamente brillaban bajo el fuerte resplandor del sol.

In the end I think that Mrs. or Mr. Melipotis famelica took pity on me and decided to leave hahaha, she opened her wings and there appeared some pretty white spots in the central part of the wings that practically shone under the strong glare of the sun.
