We came inland for the 4th and there's plenty of open territory around the house. That means lots of bugs. I grew up with Desert Stink Beetles all around our house as a kid. This one is a rather large specimen.
He was traveling up the stucco wall where I grabbed a couple pics for the show. Then it came to the top of the terrace where I dropped the ball. An epic battle ensued between the beetle and a spider that was alerted by its web.
By the time I got my camera back out, the spider had had enough. It retreated back into its hiding place. So the beetle decided to head back down the wall.
Hey look! A hose where the beetle could take cover. Hopefully there's no spider in there!
Nope. No spider, but not enough room for such a large Acrobat Beetle to squeeze through. Stay tuned for more insects as I scour the grounds out here in Valley Center.
Thanks for viewing and as always....
