Hi Hive Lovers
While cleaning the bush, I found some of these insects that had covered some of the neglected parts of my mother's old backyard garden. My few weeks of work out of town had given me time for the bush to overgrow. I'm on duty to clean it every two weeks. It was the rainy season and they had flourished with their green leaves.
These insects also started coming to the undergrowth, it seemed like there were plenty of food sources for them there. Before I started clearing the bushes, I took the time to take some pictures of them. Their shapes and colors are whimsical, unique, and attractive. For those of you who are in a tropical climate, you will easily find them.
It is appropriate to share their photos here. We lovers of these strange little creatures have provided a place to share photos and interesting facts about insects and other arthropods. #FascinatingInsectCommunity is a great place. I invite you all to share any insects you encounter in this community. Our knowledge will increase and we will be closer to #nature.
These are some of the insects I encountered today:
a. Walangsangit. They were like monsters and were not afraid of my presence near them. They weren't disturbed and didn't move at all and I just had to wait for the branches not to sway to aim at them. But, I have to be careful with the poisonous gas spray and the pungent smell from their anus, if it comes into contact with the skin then you will feel an extraordinary sting. The gas spray became their only defense mechanism.
What are their names at your place?
b. Assassin Beetle. Their backs are like those killer masks, aren't they? They look scary to their would-be predators and it seems the mask is their defense system. The pattern on their body is very attractive and the orange color combination of their black body makes them easy to find. Their appearance is very striking on the green leaves and the red and white color combination on the bottom of their body is also cool. I even found two pairs of them making love. That's very cool, their lovemaking process is like they will not be separated and will continue to be connected to each other.
c. Forest Cockroach. He has a yellow ring around his neck. The shape is exactly the same as the cockroaches that you often find in your home. Only the color of her body is jet black, usually, you find them on the ground, but this time I saw her perched on a branch of the shy princess and it made her body color very contrast against the background of the green leaves.
d. Little yellow butterfly. Its entire small body is yellow and each of its wings has 1 black dot. The two black dots look like eyes glaring at you. Could it be called a defense system to him? I can't take many pictures. He immediately flew away as soon as my camera approached him, the color appearance is very cool and also very contrasting when perched on the flower bush. It should be perched on a yellow leaf so I can't find it.
e. Grasshopper whose image is blurred. This is really a difficult animal to shoot. He quickly jumped away as my footsteps approached him and my camera was still out of focus at that point. I really can't aim at it. So, “it's a shame to throw it away” and I'm still showing it here so we can appreciate the hard work of those who have targeted them well. I applaud #insectslovers who can take their photos with a cell phone camera (especially those using macro mode). My high appreciation for those of you who really work hard to present very good photos of these moving animals in this community.
I also have 1 photo of another animal, which is a dragonfly with wings like a bumblebee. Actually, the photo of the dragonfly was not me who shot it, but it was taken by my son who is still 5 years old. He calls it the "bumble bee dragonfly", it's like the color of the bumble bee robot he has.
At first, he told me about the presence of the beautiful dragonfly in our bathroom. But I have a great idea, I asked my son to take a photo of the dragonfly after I put macro mode on my cell phone camera, the dragonfly also gave a chance to be shot before finally flying close to the lamp in the bathroom. In my opinion, a child who is still 5 years old is already able to master the camera focus well. This is his shot:
Of the insects, which one is your favorite, or which one do you see often?
