To jsem takhle na chalupě štípal dřevo, když tu náhle... v polínku je díra a z ní čouhají nohy.
Tak jsem to vzal ke stolu, vyklepnul, a z díry vypadla pilořitka.
Byla úplně překvapená, vlastně poprvé v životě uviděla světlo světa.
Chvíli se třásla, chvíli se protahovala, ale pak se jí podařilo nastartovat a uletět.
Zbyla po ní jen díra ve dřevě.
I was chopping wood in the cottage when suddenly... there's a hole in the log with feet sticking out of it.
So I took it to the table, knocked it out, and out of the hole came a Giant Wood Wasp.
She was surprised, actually, for the first time in her life, she saw the light of day.
She was shaking for a while, stretching for a while, but then she managed to start and fly away.
All that's left is a hole in the wood.
Pilořitka je zajímavý hmyz. Larvy dělají ve dřevě chodby až 40 cm dlouhé. Žijí takhle ve dřevě 2-3 roky, někdy ale až šest let. Pak se zakuklí, a když se narodí dospělec, musí se z toho dřeva vykousat. Ta moje tedy měla štěstí, že se ven dostala s mojí pomocí.
The Giant Wood Wasp is an interesting insect. The larvae make tunnels up to 40 cm long in the wood. They live in the wood for 2-3 years, but sometimes up to six years. Then they pupate, and when an adult is born, they have to dig themselves out of the wood. So mine was lucky to get out with my help.
