When the mating period arrives, the male water spider will make a kind of bubble nest near the female bubble nest. The male water spider also makes a kind of bubble tunnel that connects the two bubble nests for the male to use to enter the bubble web of the female spider.
Mating takes place in the female's bubble nest & after that, the female spider will produce many eggs. The eggs are usually placed in a special chamber in the nest which is also made of bubbles and will hatch a few days later.
