Here are a few insect finds on my morning commutes into downtown Chicago.
This is a huge moth I found on the side of a skyscraper. When it flew away it had orange under its wings.
Here is a wooly bear caterpillar on the sidewalk.
Here is a huge cicada killer wasp aka murder hornet.
This is a red admiral butterfly resting on a marble planter.
Now that fall is approaching the milkweed beetle nymph are showing up on the milkweed pods.
Here is an orb weaver. These guys cover all of Chicago in the fall months.
Here is a big daring jumping spider. I wish I could have caught her an put her into a terrarium, they make great pets that can be handled and hand fed.
Now for a tiny green wasp on a flower. I wish I knew the id of these guys.
Here is another orb weaver on a tree branch in tye evening.
