I'm finally at the end of the QB rankings and well, it should come as no surprise that I believe Patrick Mahomes is the #1 QB in the NFL.
Take pretty much everything I said about Joe Burrow and add more mobility and a lot of arm strength and you get Patrick Mahomes.
After sitting as the backup his rookie season in 2017, which was the smart move by the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes became pretty much a legend over night. The guy was good from day one, more than good, he was and still is, great. Mahomes truly changed the game in my eyes.
Mahomes plays the position at a different type of level, his insane arm strength allows him to almost literally throw the ball anywhere on the field, so this then allows his vision to sort of, be available two or three levels down field than most quarterbacks. This allows the Chiefs' offense to be more complex and the receivers can run more complex routes I would guess. Practically every inch of grass is available with a QB like Mahomes.
Mahomes often treats the football like a normal person treats darts. Instead of short, intermediate and deep passes, I feel as though for Mahomes it's probably short, intermediate, deep, really deep, and straight up bombs.
To go along with Mahomes' insane physical traits, the guy can play quarterback. His football IQ is as real as it gets. Sometimes gunslingers can throw too many picks. Mahomes is the GOAT gunslinger type of QB and the most interceptions he's thrown in a season is 13.
Mahomes is one of the best QBs in league history already and would likely make the Hall of Fame already if he decided to retire out of nowhere. He's got the star power and sheer accolades. Not sure if he'd be first ballot or not, but he'd make it.
Mahomes has only been starting for five seasons and he's already done the following:
- 2x Super Bowl Champ
- 2x Super Bowl MVP
- 2x NFL MVP
- 1x Offensive Player of the Year
- 2x First-Team All-Pro
- 1x Second-Team All-Pro
- 5x Pro Bowls Consecutively
- 64-16 as a Starter
The guy has practically played a whole other season in the playoffs. He's freaking 11-3 and has thrown for over 4,000 passing yards and 35 passing touchdowns BRO.
The man is an all-time great already. It's just that simple. The closest threat to Tom Brady's GOAT status. He's got some work to do, but he is definitely quickly building a resume.
Football fans are lucky to watch Patrick Mahomes play, hopefully he sucks enough for a season for the Titans to grab a ring.
