Aaron Rodgers turns 40 this December, and he is coming off a relatively poor season, at least when talking Rodgers' standards, but until I see otherwise, there aren't many QBs I'd take over Rodgers. Considering his age, I guess I would think about taking him long term, but I believe he's still very talented at this moment. Time will tell how much longer he can play at a high level.
Rodgers has been in the league since 2005 and has been a starter since 2008. He won a Super Bowl over a decade ago now, but has found himself in the playoffs constantly ever since. Interestingly, Rodgers has a winning record in the playoffs at 11-10. Going 4-0 one year helps but still, that was a bit surprising to me. That's an entire extra season of football. Of course a lot of greats have this many playoff games played or more, but it's still cool to see and rare overall. Love the longevity.
Rodgers also has just racked up the stats and awards in general for the past decade and a half. Just to name a few accomplishments, the dude is a 4x MVP, 10x Pro Bowler, 5x All-Pro, named to the 2010's All-Decade Team.
The guy is simply a shoo-in Hall of Famer still playing. He won MVP just recently in 2021. Since Brady retired, he's the last remaining guy from my childhood still playing.
Now he's on the Jets and it's crazy to see him NOT be a Packer after eighteen seasons.
He joins a fresh team, with a lot of young talent in a giant city, rather than the small market of Green Bay. It's all very interesting.
I think Rodgers will be motivated by the new challenge and play well. Their schedule looks tough on paper, but the NFL can be unpredictable. You just never know which teams will fall off or rise up year in and year out.
The Jets went 7-10 last season with sketchy QB play. Adding Rodgers could be perfect for everyone involved.
