Joe Mixon has always been a running back I enjoyed watching play.
Mixon is a running back that you want to keep around, no doubt about it. He looks like a running back that could play well in any era of football, even the more physical style from back in the day, although I believe modern football is still plenty physical.
Mixon is simply a really awesome all around, every down back. He leans more toward a physical run style but he's still very fast and agile. He has an intelligent, wise running style that is a treat to watch. He is very skilled at reading the field and finding where the hole to run through is. Great patience when scanning the line of scrimmage.
Joe Mixon reminds me a lot of former Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell. Mixon has really good size too. He's surprisingly a rock solid 6-1, 220 pounds, which is honestly pretty above average for a running back. As a Titans fan, even though I'm used to seeing massive backs, I still acknowledge Mixon as one of the bigger backs in the league. I could be wrong Mixon seems to have surprisingly short legs, and that may give the illusion he's a bit shorter.
As I said previous, Mixon is an all around back and he's been proven to be really good out of the backfield as he averages about 39 receptions a season. He caught a career high 60 passes last season! That's really good.
Overall, Mixon has put up solid consistent numbers. Honestly, nothing completely mind-blowing but very productive. Considering the fact that he plays on a very good, not shy about passing offense, with elite talent all over the field, Mixon does a great job.
Mixon has been in the league for six seasons, he's been a Bengal the entire time. Including his 2020 season where he only played six games, Mixon averages about 896 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns a season. He also averages about 294 receiving yards a season.
Mixon already has over 7,000 yards from scrimmage and 50 total touchdowns over his entire career. He's quickly on his way to 2,000 receiving yards as well.
There's not too many backs better than Mixon and his longevity is also really solid so far. Some backs might be elite for a year or two, but Mixon is entering year seven and I don't envision him slowing down.
