Wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been one of the lone bright spots for a Washington franchise that has been struggling in many ways.
Terry McLaurin is having a surprisingly elite career. I only say that because if you take a look at his college career on paper at a glance, it's pretty underwhelming in terms of stats. At Ohio State, McLaurin's career high for receptions was 35 and he never reached 1,000 yards receiving, a feat he's three consecutive seasons now as a pro and his career low for catches as a pro is 58.
But McLaurin did have one stat in college that was pretty elite and probably put him on notice on a lot of draft boards in 2019. In that 35 reception season that McLaurin had as a senior in 2018, McLaurin had 701 yards, which means Terry had an average of 20 yards a reception that year which is pretty amazing.
Also, Terry went to freaking Ohio State, and they've been known to have top level receivers quite often, so that could be a reason for McLaurin's lack of production throughout his college career.
The Commanders seemed to see his great potential, and drafted Terry as a third rounder! Talk about a great third round pick. As a rookie Terry had 918 receiving yards, 200+ more than he ever had as a rookie.
In years 2-4 McLaurin has reached 1,000 plus yards. Very impressive considering the Commanders have had several different QBs start the past few years.
McLaurin is just a reliable great all around receiver. A.J. Brown-ish. I look forward to watching him play more, my brother is a Commanders supporter and I'd love to see the team have some success, as long as it's not against the Titans LOL.
