Welp, it may feel like déjà vu or like some glitch in the matrix but indeed it is not. The Phillies are genuinely repeating themselves consistently.
They lose again and can seemingly do nothing right at the moment. Can't pitch, can't hit. It's looking silly no doubt about it. Andrew Painter lasted just four innings on the mound yesterday, allowing three runs in that time. The bullpen may have been the only aspect of the game that looked decent yesterday. Offensively it really seems like the supporting cast is letting the team down in a big way. The stars like Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber are actually producing fairly well. Kyle Schwarber hit his seventh homer yesterday. Meanwhile Bryson Stott and Alec Bohm have been looking pretty bad at the plate lately.
Just about 13% of the season is complete and the Phillies are now five games under .500. Tick tock man! I hope they figure something out and fast. This article does an excellent job at highlighting just how bad things look for the Phillies at the moment. Their recent struggles haven't been seen by the Phillies in many years. Over a decade easily.
The Phillies now head into Chicago to face the team that began this losing streak for the Phillies in the first place in the Cubs. Ain't that something? Maybe they can start a winning streak against the very team that started this recent misery.
Aaron Nola is on the mound, let's hope he can be vintage Nola and have a quality start and just pray the offense decides to do something.
Come on boys wake up!
