Tomorrow the Titans play AND there's a UFC Fight Night. Should be a pretty good day of sports!
Tomorrow's Fight Night seems full of unknown fighters, to me anyway. I think that's a good thing really, it's nice to get to know some other fighters. There's always fresh fighters trying to make there way up. That's one of the best parts about the UFC, there's always new 'lore' forming I guess. The UFC is like a year round, never ending story. LOL.
There are some fighters I do recognize, though.
Terrance McKinney fights Mike Breeden in a Lightweight Bout. McKinney fought just last month and he takes this fight on short notice due to Lando Vannata's injury. McKinney has some great highlights in his relatively young MMA career, and I feel as though he's still dangerous despite losing three of his last four.
Mike Breeden is 0-2 in the UFC but hasn't fought in over a year, maybe he's been focused and will come back a brand new fighter.
I actually think McKinney gets it done.
An interesting light heavyweight fight goes down between Chris Daukaus and Khalil Rountree Jr.
Chris Daukaus is fighting down at light heavyweight for I believe the first time in his career. There was a time relatively recently that Daukaus was a darkhorse to fight for the heavyweight championship, but he's been knocked out by big names like Derrick Lewis, Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruik in three straight fights heading into this matchup. So I guess he took that as a hint and decided to lose some weight. Daukaus was never a super power puncher or that big for heavyweight, he is more of a boxer, looking to land long combinations.
I think Daukaus has a bad matchup when facing Rountree tomorrow. Rountree is fast and explosive and I just think might be better in general. Rountree is a great striker, Daukaus better try to grapple.
Rountree is on a three fight winning streak, Daukaus is on a three fight losing streak. Maybe Daukaus will be focused to win, but I would bet on Rountree.
Legendary veteran UFC fighter Cub Swanson fights Hakeem Dawodu in a really awesome matchup. Both of these guys fight really similarly and are physically built very similar as well. Hakeem reminds me of a younger version of Cub himself. Both fighters are explosive strikers, although Hakeem is a better striker while Cub is the better grappler.
Cub has been in the UFC since 2011 while Hakeem made his UFC debut in 2018. Hakeem is also seven years younger than Cub.
I'll pick Hakeem, but this is a tricky one, Cub is as game as they come and I think he matches up well here.
Another legend and quite possibly a UFC Hall of Famer in Rafael Dos Anjos fights yet again this time at welterweight when he faces the very game Vicente Luque.
RDA is one of the most well rounded, respected fighters ever and has fought practically every big name in the Lightweight and Welterweight divisions. He's been in the UFC since 2008!! He's been fighting in the UFC since BUSH was President!
Vicente Luque is quickly building his own RDA-esque resume as he's fought literally everyone in the Welterweight division since 2015 and has only lost to big top names in the division like Leon Edwards, Stephen Thompson, Belal Muhammad (he's 1-1 against Belal), and Geoff Neal.
This is a low-key big fight for both men. I got Vicente though.
